Reflection - Annotated Bibliography
Going into this project, I didn't have much knowledge about what an annotated bibliography was or how to do it myself. I made sure to do my research before starting. I looked on the Purdue Owl website to teach myself how to use APA format, too. I always like to refresh my memory and knowledge on the topic by reviewing the lesson before starting my assignment, so that's what I did for this.
I prefer using RefWorks for my citations because I know it's a reliable resource for me. I tend to find my best sources straight from the SCSU LibSearch page. I know the sources on there are scholarly because I refine my searches to only include those. I also like how easy it is to use RefWorks and that it creates a bibliography for you so quickly and accurately. Because much of this project was a learning experience for me, I liked being able to go at my own pace and rework things in my annotations.
The only downfall to using the LibSearch, for me, is when the articles you want are only available through InterLibrary Loan. It's a nice option but sometimes it takes too long for the requests to be processed so you lose valuable work time waiting to receive these sources. I often like to skip over sources like that because I usually don't have much time to work with. I had a little trouble getting started because I felt that I didn't know what I was doing so I wanted to push it off to the last day.
Now that I know, generally, how to create an annotated bibliography, I think I will have more success the next time I need to do it. This was the first I have done so it was slightly rough... I hope to use this project and the resources available about it to help me in my future classes.
